We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous support of the Safari West Wildlife Foundation. We are very proud of our accomplishments, including our Discover Africa Program which subsidizes field trips for school children who are often from underserved areas of our community.
We expect over 3,000 school children to visit Safari West this year and we anticipate many more delighted, curious, young visitors next year.
Our Discover Africa program provides low income, at-risk students in our neighboring counties and the Greater Bay Area the opportunity to immerse themselves in the wonders Safari West. Before such an engaging tour and learning experience, many of these students are terribly fearful of animals, even domestic dogs.
Often their only interaction with animals has come in the form of aggressive guard dogs, and, in many cases, these children have not had the opportunity to experience the wonders and beauty of the natural world that surrounds us. But, alongside classmates and teachers, and under the knowledgeable instruction of Safari West’s guides, they begin to gain a newfound appreciation for nature, conservation, animals and habitat preservation. In essence, the Discover Africa program opens the students’ eyes to a whole new world.
Again, we sincerely thank you all for helping us inspire appreciation, understanding and respect for all living things by supporting our Foundation. Your efforts are recognized and appreciated.
We look forward to a continued friendship.
Sincerely, John Menth,
Board Chair Safari West Wildlife Foundation
